Come to My Talk on 'The World's End Murders: The Inside Story' on Tuesday 3rd December '24 in Edinburgh

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) Library & Archive has asked me to talk at their Christmas Lecture at 6:30pm on  'The World's End Murder's: The Inside Story'.  The horrific killing of two Edinburgh teenagers in October 1977 sparked a nationwide manhunt that turned into one of Britain's longest and most famous murder investigations., of which I was involved in, as a serving officer of Lothian & Borders Police.

Join me, Tom Wood, an author and ex-police officer as I talk through some of my latest book's details, which tells the story of two innocent young girls, Helen Scott and Christine Eadie, and of the extraordinary police investigation over almost four decades that eventually led to the discovery of links to their deaths with Angus Sinclair, one of Scotland's most notorious murderers and sex offenders.

This is not a gruesome tale of violent death - the families of Helen and Christine have suffered long enough. It is a story of heroes - of the families of the two girls who, with quiet dignity, have carried an unimaginable burden down the years, and of the police officers, the support staff and the scientists who persisted in their investigations and never gave up.

This is the inside story of The World's End Murders.

Tickets cost £3 and can be booked here.   â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

My Talk on 'The Bombing of Edinburgh' - A Lecture to Celebrate the Edinburgh 900: City of Conflict, 30 May 2025 - Our city is 900 years old this year and to celebrate, there's a big programme of events and activities taking place from July '24 through into 2025 across our capital.  I'm delighted to have been asked, to be part of the event and will be holding a talk on 'The Bombing of Edinburgh' on Friday 30th May 2025 at the City Arts Centre at 2pm.

Although Edinburgh was not ‘blitzed ‘ like London or Clydebank, from the first raid of October 1939 to 1942 the city was regularly attacked by German Bombers.

Digging deep into the the old city police archives, and with access to the original crime scene photographs, I will tell the story of The World War 2 bombing of Edinburgh.  From farce to utter tragedy this is a new insight into Edinburgh's battle against Hitler's Luftwaffe.

Please join me on Friday 30th May from 2-3pm.  Tickets are complimentary and can be booked here.
